EastEnders\u2019 Joel Marshall is targeted by his former friends<\/a> next week, as they plot to teach the troubled teenager a lesson! Back in Walford after serving time for his violent behaviour, Joel\u2019s presence leads to an act of vengeance that has far-reaching consequences\u2026<\/p>\n

“Nobody\u2019s pleased to see Joel back,” begins our EastEnders insider. “He knows he\u2019s not wanted, so he\u2019s surprised when one of the locals gives him a second chance. However, most of the community still think he hasn\u2019t fully paid for his past and won\u2019t be satisfied until they feel he\u2019s properly punished.”<\/p>\n

With nowhere else to go since being released from young offenders<\/a>, Joel is reluctantly residing in Walford with dad Ross and stepmum Vicki. Understandably, Vicki is triggered by memories of the brutal attack Joel inflicted on her, which led to his criminal conviction. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just Vicki who\u2019s struggling with Joel around, though \u2013 the Walford teens are giving him a wide berth after his antics, which also included filming Avani while they were intimate<\/a> without her consent, and corrupting Tommy with his misogynistic attitudes.<\/p>\n

Conflicted, Ross reckons it\u2019s his fatherly duty to get Joel on the straight and narrow, so tries to find a sixth-form place for his boy. But when Priya and Ravi kick off at Ross for letting the lad back into their lives, the Marshalls become even more unpopular<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Realising it\u2019s pointless hanging around when he\u2019s public enemy number one, Joel books a train ticket and quietly plans his escape\u2026<\/p>\n

“It looks as though Joel\u2019s finally got the message,” says our source. “But there\u2019s a sense he genuinely wants to put everything behind him and prove he\u2019s changed \u2013 which doesn\u2019t go unnoticed by Lily.<\/p>\n

“She sees a different side to Joel when she notices him being kind to Janet, so invites him in while he waits for his train. Is someone finally ready to give Joel the benefit of the doubt?”<\/p>\n

Welcomed into the Slater house, Joel opens up about prison and Lily starts to feel sympathetic towards him. However, Avani, Amy and Jean arrive, so Joel makes himself scarce and heads to the station\u2026<\/p>\n

Ross finds Joel about to leave and convinces him to stay, reassuring him things will calm down eventually. This angers Amy and Avani, who decide to take matters into their own hands. <\/p>\n

The next day, the girls appear to have had a change of heart and invite Joel to the park to celebrate the end of term. Ross is suspicious, but the pair insist they want to build bridges. <\/p>\n

Joel arrives to find Amy, Avani, Denzel, Barney, Ricky, Nugget and Lily. It\u2019s all been a trap to lure Joel to the location, and the gang carry out their plan\u2026<\/p>\n

“They tie Joel to a fence and throw beer over him,” reveals our insider. “Not only that, but they film the whole thing! Joel is left utterly humiliated.”<\/p>\n

Will the prank provoke Joel into violence again? Or will there be unforeseen fallout for the teens\u2019 revenge? <\/p>\n

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.<\/p>\n
