Two fresh high temperature alerts have been announced for 20 counties as Ireland’s current heatwave continues with no indication of easing in the near future.<\/p>\n
Met \u00c9ireann<\/a> has issued two new high temperature warnings, the first covering all six counties across Munster<\/a>, all five counties throughout Connacht, along with Carlow, Kildare<\/a>, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan and Donegal. The warning, released early Tuesday morning, takes effect at 12 midday on Wednesday and will stay in force until 6am on Friday.<\/p>\n A separate Status yellow high temperature advisory, meanwhile, has been announced for Clare, Cork<\/a>, Kerry, Limerick<\/a>, Galway<\/a> and Mayo, an advisory which took effect at 7.30am on Tuesday and will stay in force until 7am on Wednesday. Five of those counties – Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway and Mayo – had earlier been given a high temperature warning that took effect at 1pm on Monday, also lasting until 7am on Wednesday.<\/p>\n Both new advisories warn of “maximum temperatures in excess of 27\u00b0C combined with overnight minimum temperatures in excess of 15\u00b0C”, with the following potential Impacts:.<\/p>\n The new warning arrives as a prominent Irish weather<\/a> specialist states this summer “will be one to remember” amid persistently high temperatures and a projection for minimal rainfall for the coming period. Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly said: “Weather models continue to show very little rainfall for next 10 days as high pressure continues to dominate. Staying warm also on latest models, summer 2026 will be one to remember.”, reports the Irish Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n Along with the fresh warnings issued on Tuesday morning, a weather advisory covering the whole of Ireland remains in effect until Friday, cautioning about “a prolonged spell of very warm or hot weather”.<\/p>\n Met \u00c9ireann flagged that the ongoing heatwave raised potential drought concerns, along with an increased risk of wildfires and forest fires.<\/p>\n Forecasters stated: “Today will be warm and dry with plenty of sunshine. Some cloud may build in parts of the south and southwest during the afternoon and evening.<\/p>\n “Highest temperatures of 23 to 29 degrees, warmest in the west and a little cooler near the east coast due to a light to moderate easterly breeze.”<\/p>\n Turning to Wednesday’s outlook, they added: “Tomorrow will be very warm or hot with temperatures reaching 24 to 30 degrees generally. Less warm in the east and northeast though, as a light to moderate easterly breeze continues.<\/p>\n “The morning will be mostly dry and sunny, although a few showers may develop in the southwest.
