An eight-year-old girl was among the three people found dead at a house in Co Antrim yesterday morning.<\/p>\n

Police remain at the scene in Ballymena where the bodies of a man, a woman and the girl were found.<\/p>\n

The man and woman were originally from Poland and it is understood the girl was born in Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n

Honorary Consul for Poland in Northern Ireland Jerome Mullen said the community is absolutely shattered at the deaths of the family.<\/p>\n

Speaking on RT\u00c9’s News at One, Mr Mullen said it is the first time in 18 years of being Honorary Consul that he has experienced a tragedy like this among the Polish community in the North.<\/p>\n

He said Poland has a full diplomatic mission in Belfast, adding that they will be providing full consular assistance to the relatives of those who died.<\/p>\n

Toys could be seen outside the house today and a pair of pink and blue child’s sandals were drying on a washing line.<\/p>\n

A murder investigation is under way and police confirmed that the three people were related and found inside the property, adding there was no “ongoing risk” to the public and officers were not seeking anyone else in relation to the deaths.<\/p>\n

Mid and East Antrim District Commander, Superintendent William Calderwood has said that post-mortem examinations will take place in due course.<\/p>\n

“As such, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time, and I would ask that the public avoid speculation.”<\/p>\n

He added: “However, I want to reassure the public that we do not believe that there is any ongoing risk, and at this stage we are not seeking anyone else in relation to the deaths.”<\/p>\n
