David Morrissey and Aimee Lou Wood’s hit sitcom Daddy Issues has been confirmed to return for a third season. However, it has sadly been announced as the last.<\/p>\n

The Stockport-set BBC comedy focuses on the relationship between Wood’s character, Gemma, and her hapless dad, Malcolm (Morrissey), who move into a flat share in the first season before she gives birth to a daughter.<\/p>\n

The upcoming third run takes place 18 months after the events of season two, as “life has settled into a familiar rhythm”, with baby Sadie now in nursery and Gemma promoted at the salon. Malcolm, meanwhile, has ordered a fancy new washing machine.<\/p>\n

“Things might finally be on an even keel for the Moscrips – so maybe there’s space for Gemma to finally find love?” the synopsis adds.<\/p>\n

“However, it doesn’t take long for chaotic ‘old Gemma’ to rear her head; a romantic encounter escalates into a whole heap of problems, and there’s only one person she can turn to – her dad, who might finally have become the grown-up she always knew he could be.”<\/p>\n

Alongside Wood and Morrissey, the series stars Taj Atwal as Gemma’s best friend Cherry, Sarah Hadland as boss Rita, Sharon Rooney as sister Catherine, and David Fynn as Malcolm’s best friend Derek.<\/p>\n

“I’m so happy to be back with David and the brilliant Daddy Issues cast for one final time,” Wood said. “Gemma and Malcolm are one of the funniest and sweetest comedy double acts on TV, and I’ve loved being a part of it.”<\/p>\n

Morrissey added: “I love doing Daddy Issues so much, such a great cast and crew! So I\u2019m delighted to be coming back to have more adventures with Gemma, Malcolm and the gang!”<\/p>\n

Danielle Ward, creator and writer, commented: “I’m thrilled we’re getting to make a third and final series of Daddy Issues. The Moscrips have a special part in my heart, and I’ll be forever grateful to Aimee and David for bringing them to life in such a brilliantly funny way.”<\/p>\n

According to the BBC, Daddy Issues was BBC Three’s biggest new comedy launch since 2022, while the second season two was the channel’s top scripted title last year.<\/p>\n

The series currently holds a perfect 100% score on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>. <\/p>\n
