Garda\u00ed have said there will be traffic restrictions and rolling road closures in parts of Dublin city between now and Friday afternoon due to EU Presidency events.<\/p>\n
The meetings of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers and the European Port Alliance will be centred around Dublin Castle, the InterContinental and Clayton Hotel’s in Ballsbridge and Dublin Port.<\/p>\n
They will result in parking restrictions, rolling road closures, and other traffic restrictions when delegates are travelling to and from the events.<\/p>\n
Parking restrictions are in place in Ballsbridge from this afternoon and tomorrow, and Friday morning between 8-9am.<\/p>\n
There will be temporary traffic restrictions and rolling road closures to facilitate security escorts in the south city centre between Ballsbridge and Dublin Castle, primarily affecting Merrion Road, Mespil Road, Leeson Street, St Stephen’s Green, Kevin Street, Bride Street and adjoining roads.<\/p>\n
The same roads will be also impacted for a period during Thursday evening.<\/p>\n
Further restrictions and road closure will take place between 4.30pm and 6.30pm tomorrow afternoon between Dublin Castle and Dublin Port, primarily affecting Bride Street, Kevin Street, St Stephen’s Green, Merrion Street, Pearse Street, Cardiff Lane, North Wall Quay, Macken Street, Northumberland Road and Merrion Road.<\/p>\n
Castle Street, Ship Street Little, and Ship Street Great which surround Dublin Castle remain closed to traffic and pedestrians for the duration of Irelands EU Presidency until 31 December.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed have said they are working to ensure that the nature and scale of the policing and security operation for the Presidency of the Council of the European Union is proportionate to protect people’s safety.<\/p>\n
They have said they are working with Transport Infrastructure Ireland and public transport providers to minimise disruption to the public transport network.<\/p>\n
“Our objective is to continue to share as much information with the public where necessary as soon as we are in a position to do so. We ask members of the public to heed the advice and instructions of garda\u00ed, and we thank them for their co-operation.”<\/p>\n
They said their operational plans are subject to change for security and operational reasons, and they’ll provide real-time updates on their social media channels and the garda website.<\/p>\n
