Emmerdale<\/a> spoilers follow.<\/p>\n

Emmerdale might have just proved Aaron Dingle right, as all clues pointed to newcomer Serena Sugden<\/a> betraying his and Robert’s trust after making a big discovery about John. Tonight’s hour-long episode kicked off with a revelation for Robert as his ex Kev Townsend informed him that Serena was a police officer. Once Aaron returned home, Robert and Kev told him the truth about Serena, confirming Aaron’s initial suspicions.<\/p>\n

Serena had been sniffing around to find out what happened to John, who was killed in self-defence by Victoria during Corriedale<\/a>. Robert suggested they should “nip it in the bud” for his sister’s sake if Serena was indeed a “grass”, like Kev had branded her.<\/p>\n

Aaron didn’t waste time confronting Serena the second she walked through the door and accused her of being an undercover cop.<\/p>\n

“We know that you lied to us,” Robert added, taking things into his own hands before Aaron could get aggressive.<\/p>\n

“I want the truth,” Robert said calmly but firmly, leaving Serena no choice but to admit she used to be a police officer before leaving the force for “personal reasons”. “Point is, I’m not deliberately hiding anything. You believe me, right?” she pleaded with Robert.<\/p>\n

Serena said that she and the police “weren’t a good fit”, as she opened up about growing up as a mixed race person in the Dales and her attempts to make a difference as an officer.<\/p>\n

Robert was understanding, but caught her in a lie about John. Serena previously told Robert and Aaron that she’d barely met the villain at some family functions, but their bond ran much deeper.<\/p>\n

She came clean about John helping her save the family farm after her mum had been taken ill. “He cashed in his army pension and gave us the money,” she said, adding that she couldn’t believe that John would kill anyone.<\/p>\n

Not wanting to hold on to a murderer’s money, Serena then offered to give the remainder of John’s pension to some of the people he’d hurt. She asked Vanessa to transfer the amount to Tracy Robinson, whose husband Nate was John’s first victim in the village.<\/p>\n

“It’s an incredibly generous offer,” Vanessa commented, to which Serena replied: “And the right thing to do.”<\/p>\n

Robert apologised to Serena for doubting her, calling her generosity “pretty amazing”.<\/p>\n

Back at home, Robert tried to get Aaron to see that Serena had done a good deed, but he was less than impressed. He was adamant they couldn’t trust her as an argument erupted, as Serena stormed out to blow off some steam at the pub.<\/p>\n

At the Woolpack, Moira Dingle gave Serena a piece of her mind, saying she couldn’t blame Aaron.<\/p>\n

“You did lie to him,” Moira pointed out, adding that his family had been through a lot and could do with “a bit of honesty”.<\/p>\n

Serena stayed on at the pub and had an interesting chat with Bob Hope. He revealed that Robert and Victoria sold their half of Moira’s farm quickly while she was in prison, right before Victoria took off for Portugal with her son.<\/p>\n

Serena mulled over this new information, still convinced that Robert and Aaron were keeping secrets from her about John’s fate.<\/p>\n

Later on with Robert, she voiced her doubts about John’s supposed suicide. Her questions escalated, as she connected the dots between John’s suicide and Victoria’s sudden move to Portugal. Robert tried to throw her off the scent, but Serena wouldn’t let it go.<\/p>\n

She finally hinted that she knew that Victoria had killed John, but promised that she had no intention of turning her in. “I won’t take it any further. You have my word on that,” she told a concerned Robert.

At dinner, Robert told Aaron about Serena’s realisation, with Aaron reacting angrily. In the final scenes, Serena walked into the local police station. <\/p>\n

Will she break her promise to Robert and incriminate Victoria?<\/p>\n
