Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker is teaming up with Grey’s Anatomy’s Ellen Pompeo for a new US dramedy series. The actor has been cast in the pilot for Hulu’s Chicks, which follows two estranged half-sisters in Boston.<\/p>\n

Chickie (Pompeo) and Doreen (Whittaker) are struggling to get by when their dad unexpectedly dies, with the pair inheriting his legacy of two-bit crime. As such, they begin to run a series of frauds, with the siblings’ odd-couple bond growing in the process (via Deadline<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Whitaker’s character is described as wired, wiry and scrappy, having worked many illegal side hustles \u2013 though Doreen is a puppy at heart and deep down wants to be seen by Chickie.<\/p>\n

Chicks comes from Good American Family’s Katie Robbins, with the project originating in conversations between her and Pompeo.<\/p>\n

The series is part of a busy upcoming slate for Whittaker, which includes a role in the next season of Only Murders in the Building. The star was recently seen in filming pictures<\/a>, appearing to play the role of a barrister in the London-set season.<\/p>\n

She also recently appeared in Office Romance with Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein, and BBC series Dear England.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Whittaker has revealed to Digital Spy<\/a> that she would be up for playing her iconic role of the Doctor again.<\/p>\n

“I have never ever had to hide my absolute love for Doctor Who and I have said in every single interview that was ever asked, I would always say yes [to returning] and everyone knows that is what I will feel, I will love Doctor Who until the day I die,” she said.<\/p>\n

“I think everything to do with Doctor Who is a surprise, who the next Doctor is, who the companions are, there’s always a surprise coming.”<\/p>\n
