\n\tTubi FrightFest<\/a>, the U.K.\u2019s biggest horror and fantasy film festival, has unveiled the lineup for its 27th edition, with a presentation of movies it says is the biggest in its history. <\/p>\n

\n\t82 features will screen during the five-day event \u2014\u00a0taking place in the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square and Odeon Luxe West End in London from Aug 27-31 \u2014\u00a0including 24 world premieres and spanning 16 countries across four continents. <\/p>\n

\n\tOpening Tubi FrightFest\u2019s bloodied curtains is the world premiere of \u201cNervous,\u201d Abner Pastoll\u2019s subversive, cross-cultural tale of psychological alienation and dangerous obsession, shot entirely in South Korea. The film reunites Pastoll with his \u201cA Good Woman Is Hard To Find\u201d star Sarah Bolger, who plays a woman losing her ability to hear men\u2019s voices.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso from Korea comes the Cannes-bowing \u201cColony,\u201d the hotly-anticipated zombie shocker from Yeon Sang-ho, whose cult hit \u201cTrain to Busan<\/a>\u201d \u2014 and its animated prequel \u201cSeoul Station\u201d \u2014 will also screen to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Also in the Asian lineup is Indonesian genre filmmaker Joko Anwar\u2019s horror-comedy and 2026 Berlinale favourite \u201cGhost in the Cell,\u201d plus \u201cSalmokji: Whispering Water,\u201d which recently became the highest-grossing Korean horror film of all time, and remastered editions of cut Japanese titles \u201cCrazy Lips\u201d and \u201cGore from Outer Space.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Tubi FrightFest closing night film is the U.K. premiere Gen Z shocker \u201cSpecies.\u201d French writer-director Marion Le Corroller\u2019s darkly comic debut feature is a sci-fi body-horror with a deeper allegorical message about workplace burn-out, and features body-mutation sequences created by Pierre-Olivier Persin, who won both and Oscar and a BAFTA for his work on \u201cThe Substance.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tOther festival highlights include the world premiere of Christopher Smith\u2019s eight-legged satirical horror \u201cSpider Island,\u201d Padriag Reynolds homage to 1970s creature exploitation \u201cGator Face,\u201d and James Nunn\u2019s survival thriller \u201cHungry,\u201d in which Louisiana tourists are stalked by a ravenous hippopotamus. <\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, Hammer returns with \u201cIthaqua,\u201d a period survival horror from Casey Walker, who, with \u201cHome Bodies\u201d also at the festival, becomes the first director to have two films screening in the same FrightFest edition. <\/p>\n

\n\tOther buzzy films in the lineup include the anthology \u201cThe Pitchfork Retreat,\u201d from the producers of the \u201cTerrifier<\/a>\u201d franchise, featuring the last screen appearance of \u201cCandyman\u201d star Tony Todd and the twisted horror comedy \u201cDrag,\u201d co-produced by Danny DeVito and starring his his daughter Lucy DeVito. Brea Grant, Chelsea Stardust and Ed Dougherty bring \u201cGrind,\u201d a horror satire anthology about the modern gig economy, and actress Lulu Wilson is back as a lethal anti-hero in Jenn Wexler\u2019s \u201cThe Last Temptation of Becky,\u201d which FrightFest describes as \u201cthe biggest, bloodiest and most unhinged instalment yet\u201d of the franchise. <\/p>\n

\n\tAlongside royalty, there\u2019s space for pop icons in the lineup too, with \u201cFaces of Death,\u201d meta slasher retooling of the 1978 cult classic, starring Charli Xcx, selected.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTubi FrightFest knows what creates resonance with its audience: that there has to be space for depth of exciting storytelling and that what is important in the ultimate scheme of festival priorities is to interact, scream, laugh and debate in a safe space, with a like-minded community,\u201d said festival co-director Alan Jones. <\/p>\n
