Mutoid\u00a0Man have called out the official FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem for sounding \u201cfamiliar\u201d to one of their own songs.<\/p>\n
The heavy metal supergroup, featuring Cave In\u2019s Stephen Brodsky,\u00a0Converge<\/a>\u2019s Ben Koller and High On Fire\u2019s Jeff Matz, shared a post on Instagram on July 3, pointing fans towards what they saw as a similarity between FIFA\u2019s new anthem and their 2023 track \u2018Call Of The Void\u2019.<\/p>\n Posting an image of the FIFA World Cup 2026 logo with \u201cOfficial Theme\u201d written underneath, the band wrote: \u201cHey @fifaworldcup that vocal line sure sounds familiar. #goalofthevoid.\u201d<\/p>\n The hashtag is a nod to \u2018Call\u00a0Of\u00a0The\u00a0Void\u2019,\u00a0the opening track from\u00a0Mutoid\u00a0Man\u2019s 2023 album \u2018Mutants\u2019,\u00a0and the\u00a0song in question appears to be \u2018DNA\u2019,\u00a0the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Anthem, performed by Andrea Bocelli,\u00a0David Guetta<\/a>,\u00a0Megan Thee Stallion<\/a>\u00a0and EJAE.<\/p>\n Check out the post and both songs below.<\/p>\n Mutoid\u00a0Man stopped short of making a direct allegation of plagiarism, and neither FIFA nor the artists behind \u2018DNA\u2019 appear to have publicly responded at the time of writing.<\/p>\n \u2018DNA\u2019 was released on June 10 and\u00a0performed by Bocelli and EJAE at the World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico City the following day<\/a>. FIFA\u00a0have\u00a0described the track as \u201cthe ceremonial and emotional signature of the tournament\u201d,\u00a0saying it was intended to reflect the identity, unity and belonging of the competition.<\/p>\n Shakira<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Burna Boy<\/a>\u00a0also helped open the tournament at Mexico City\u2019s Azteca Stadium last month with a performance of\u00a0\u2018Dai\u00a0Dai\u2019,\u00a0another of the tournament\u2019s official songs<\/a>. The track marked Shakira\u2019s third official World Cup song, following 2010\u2019s \u2018Waka\u00a0Waka\u00a0(This Time\u00a0For\u00a0Africa)\u2019 and 2014\u2019s \u2018Dare (La\u00a0La\u00a0La)\u2019.<\/p>\n The Colombian star is also set to perform at\u00a0the first ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show on July 19<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.<\/p>\n The 11-minute show, curated by\u00a0Coldplay<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0Chris Martin<\/a>, will also feature Madonna<\/a>, BTS<\/a>, Justin Bieber<\/a>, and characters from\u00a0Sesame Street\u00a0and\u00a0The Muppets.
