Coronation Street star Jacob Roberts has revealed Kit Green’s new struggle as his partner Sarah Platt is arrested on suspicion of murder<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kit is wrong-footed next week as he realises that his police colleagues \u2013 including DS Lisa Connor-Swain \u2013 have secretly (and rightly) identified Sarah as their prime suspect in the Theo Silverton investigation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In next Monday’s episode (20 July)<\/a>, Kit is convinced that Gary Windass is about to be brought in for questioning, but when Sarah is collared instead, he realises that his desperate attempts to protect her have come to nothing.<\/p>\n

Speaking in a new interview, Jacob revealed: “It’s a massive blow to his pride. Kit always has to prove himself right, he has to be the best and get one over on everyone. To have this happen behind his back, especially knowing that Swain and others were talking about it without him really hurts.<\/p>\n

“He was working this case. He knew Gary was involved, but he just never realised the truth about Sarah until it was too late.”<\/p>\n

In the fallout from Sarah’s arrest, Lisa gives Kit a friendly warning to stop assisting his partner with a cover-up if he wants his career to survive this scandal.<\/p>\n

However, Jacob continued: “There is no way he’s listening to Swain after everything that happened with Becky. When Lisa completely dropped the ball and thought Carla was just away on holiday and was moving away with Becky, Kit was the one who actually found Carla.<\/p>\n

“He didn’t just do his job, he went above and beyond to protect her and the people she cares about. So for Swain to turn around, go completely behind his back and arrest Sarah without so much as a courtesy heads-up? It’s a massive slap in the face.”<\/p>\n

In subsequent scenes, Sarah decides to confess her guilt to Lisa in the hope of a more lenient punishment.<\/p>\n

With Sarah held on remand, Kit is left to pick up the pieces back at home \u2013 taking on unexpected new responsibilities\u2026<\/p>\n

“Kit does start to feel for Sarah while she’s in prison,” Jacob added. “Plus, he\u2019s now left looking after Harry. This entire mess was thrown upon him without his choice and he’s forced to take the reins and parent.<\/p>\n

“Because they all live on the same street, he can’t just cut her off completely. Right now, he’s just trying to stay strong so she stays strong. I think there\u2019s always a chance for them, but only if Sarah stops protecting other people.<\/p>\n

“The problem with Sarah is that she doesn’t tell Kit everything. If she isn’t willing to let her barriers down and be honest, I don’t think there\u2019s a future for them.”<\/p>\n
