Beverley Callard has said she has finished her last radiotherapy session after her breast cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n
The Fair City and Coronation Street actress said she had been diagnosed with the disease in February and began radiotherapy earlier this month.<\/p>\n
Announcing the news in an Instagram video, Callard said: “I’ve done it, I\u2019ve just finished my last radiotherapy session, fingers crossed.<\/p>\n
“That was number ten for me and lots of people have to have lots more, I know that.<\/p>\n
“But for now, that\u2019s finished so hopefully, don\u2019t know for sure, but hopefully I won\u2019t need any more.”<\/p>\n

Callard\u2019s husband Jon McEwan, who filmed the video, was then heard saying: “Positive thinking, darling, that\u2019s it.”<\/p>\n
The actress added: “To be honest, I feel a bit numb.<\/p>\n
“Yesterday I really struggled, but today I\u2019ve been fine.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019ve got to see the professor again in two months and then I\u2019ll know a lot more and mammograms and oncologists and all that, but radiotherapy is finished for now, so I\u2019m really thrilled.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m not going to celebrate tonight, we\u2019re too tired, we can\u2019t be bothered.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m going to put scruffy clothes on and just sit and watch TV with a cup of tea.”<\/p>\n
In the video caption, the soap star wrote: “And that\u2019s a wrap on radiotherapy! 10 sessions over and done with!<\/p>\n
“Lots more appointments down the line but for now\u2026I\u2019m so happy for it to be over!”<\/p>\n
Callard is best known for her role as Liz McDonald in Coronation Street.<\/p>\n
She played the character on and off from 1989 to 2020 for more than 2,000 episodes.<\/p>\n
The actress and her husband Jon moved to Ireland earlier this year after she took the role of Lily Patterson in Irish soap opera Fair City.<\/p>\n
