Coronation Street’s Sarah Platt storyline<\/a> will take centre stage in a special single-story episode next week.<\/p>\n

Show bosses are devoting a whole episode to the dark plot, as pivotal scenes see Sarah’s luck finally run out.<\/p>\n

Last month, Corrie revealed that Sarah was responsible for killing Theo Silverton on the night of Lisa and Carla Connor-Swain’s wedding reception.<\/p>\n

Since then, the ITV soap has explored Sarah’s attempts to cover up the crime with help from her ex-partner Gary Windass.<\/p>\n

The show is now dropping hints about Sarah’s ultimate fate. DC Kit Green was recently mysteriously taken off the investigation<\/a>, as his bosses deemed him to be “too close” to the main players.<\/p>\n

Then, in tonight’s episode<\/a>, Lisa’s colleague DC McLaughlin<\/a> hands her an important evidence update which has the potential for a major breakthrough.<\/p>\n

Show bosses are billing Monday’s episode (20 July)<\/a> as a special “single-strand” edition where Sarah has nowhere left to hide \u2013 and Kit is left entirely in the dark\u2026<\/p>\n

“Kit is desperate for any updates on the case from McLaughlin, but she refuses to give anything away,” explains our source. “He soon comes up with his own theories, confidently predicting that the police are about to arrest Gary.<\/p>\n

“Sadly for Kit, he has no idea that all of the evidence is now pointing at Sarah! He’s tried his best to protect her now that he knows the truth, but he hasn’t managed to outsmart the official investigations team\u2026”<\/p>\n

Just as the Platts finish recording a special birthday message for absent Audrey Roberts, the police arrive and arrest Sarah on suspicion of murder.<\/p>\n

Kit tries to reassure Sarah \u2013 and refuses to give up hope that he can somehow get her out of this mess\u2026<\/p>\n

Jacob Roberts, who plays Kit, recently explained<\/a>: “It’s a massive blow to his pride. Kit always has to prove himself right, he has to be the best and get one over on everyone. To have this happen behind his back, especially knowing that Swain and others were talking about it without him really hurts.”<\/p>\n

The special episode means that fans will have a brief break from other ongoing storylines, including Betsy Swain’s ordeal at the hospital<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX<\/a>.<\/p>\n
