A woman who survived an alleged abduction attempt in the centre of Dublin <\/a>knew her attacker, it has emerged.<\/p>\n

Sources told The Irish Mirror<\/a> that officers investigating Monday\u2019s incident in the north inner city have established a link between the woman and suspected attacker.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s understood they are both Romanian. \u201cThis was certainly not random,\u201d a source told us. \u201cWe suspect they are known to each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

The incident happened on Mountjoy Square<\/a> at around 2.40pm and several members of the public intervened when they saw the man allegedly trying to bundle the woman into an Opel people carrier.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s understood the suspect then fled, but gardai are following a definite line of inquiry.<\/p>\n

Sources also said gardai <\/a>had not yet established a motive for the alleged abduction attempt. The force confirmed in a statement that an investigation was underway.<\/p>\n

It said: \u201cGarda\u00ed received a report of the alleged attempted abduction of an adult female at Mountjoy Square in Dublin 1 at approximately 2:40pm on Monday 29th September 2025.<\/p>\n

“No injuries were reported. Investigations are ongoing.”<\/p>\n
