{"id":558106,"date":"2026-07-19T22:35:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-19T22:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/558106\/"},"modified":"2026-07-19T22:35:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-19T22:35:11","slug":"man-arrested-in-probe-over-fight-and-car-being-driven-at-people-in-north-dublin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/558106\/","title":{"rendered":"Man arrested in probe over fight and car being driven at people in north Dublin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been arrested in connection with an incident of public disorder in north Co Dublin that included a large fight and a car being driven at several people.<\/p>\n<p>Four people, including three teenagers, were injured in the incidents on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed said they had responded to a public order incident at Harbour Road, Skerries on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>    I am deeply shocked and saddened by the horrific incident that took place on Harbour Road, Skerries, yesterday evening. There is absolutely no place for this kind of violence in our community<\/p>\n<p>            Fianna F\u00e1il Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson said: \u201cAt approximately 9.45pm a large number of youths gathered and an altercation broke out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the course of the incident, a car drove at a number of people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed said three teenagers, two female and one male, were taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment with \u201cnon-life-threatening injuries\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A fourth male was later reported to have been injured.<\/p>\n<p>A man aged in his 20s was arrested on Sunday in connection with the garda investigation.<\/p>\n<p>He was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a garda station in north Co. Dublin. He can be held for up to 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"427\" width=\"640\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/man-arrested-in-probe-over-fight-and-car-being-driven-at-people-in-north-dublin.jpg\" alt=\"General Election Ireland 2024\" data-title=\"General Election Ireland 2024\" data-copyright-holder=\"PA Archive\" data-copyright-notice=\"PA Archive\/PA Images\" data-credit=\"Liam McBurney\" data-usage-terms=\"\"\/>Lorraine Clifford-Lee with Taoiseach Miche\u00e1l Martin (Liam McBurney\/PA)<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.<\/p>\n<p>Fianna F\u00e1il Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee said she was a family friend of one of the young women injured in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, she said: \u201cI am deeply shocked and saddened by the horrific incident that took place on Harbour Road, Skerries, yesterday evening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is absolutely no place for this kind of violence in our community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy thoughts are with her, the others injured, and all of their families.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThankfully, she is now home from hospital.
