Emmerdale has revealed Kev Townsend’s future after his disastrous start at the caf\u00e9<\/a> working alongside son Lewis Barton. After being given a job by Lewis, Kev found himself clashing with customers and having a stand-off with Mandy Dingle. <\/p>\n

Speaking about his sacking from the caf\u00e9 Chris Coghill, who plays Kev, explained: “He does feel it was unfair that he lost his job in the first place because his version of doing the right thing was making sure that Mandy paid for the coffees, no matter what.”<\/p>\n

Chris went on to share that the caf\u00e9 job is important to Kev because “it’s his chance to connectwith Lewis and see him every day and also integrate himself into the village abit more because he’s decided that he wants to stay.”<\/p>\n

Working at the caf\u00e9 also put Kev in close contact with Nicola, Lewis’ business partner who has also become something of a mother-figure to him.<\/p>\n

Speaking about Kev and Nicola’s relationship, Chris said: “I think he likes the fact that she’s protective of Lewis, which he does appreciate. But at the same time she doesn’t want Kev there and there’s a bit of him that does want to win her over. <\/p>\n

“Especially after her trying to get rid of him. And to be fair, him parking the van right outside the cafe was quite an antagonistic thing to do.”<\/p>\n

While Kev doesn’t have many people in the village on his side, one person who always has his back is Claudette, who persuaded him to try and build a relationship with Lewis.<\/p>\n

“I think it’s lovely,” Chris said of Kev and Claudette’s relationship. “It’s been alluded to that his own childhood wasn’t the best. We’ve talked about the fact that his dad was never around but he did have a mother figure but they were a bit all over the place. <\/p>\n

“Claudette’s rooting for Kev and they have a reallysweet relationship actually. I’m a bit like her favourite son, even when her own son (Charles) is there.”<\/p>\n

However things don’t seem likely to go smoothly for Kev, as he’s about to run into a face from his past, new character Steve<\/a>, played by Waterloo Road’s Jason Done.<\/p>\n

The soap has already teased that Steve will tempt Kev to go back to his old ways, testing his determination to forge a real relationship with Lewis. <\/p>\n

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX<\/a>.<\/p>\n
