{"id":559163,"date":"2026-07-20T14:59:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T14:59:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/559163\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T14:59:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T14:59:11","slug":"second-man-accused-of-cork-atm-robbery-remanded-in-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/559163\/","title":{"rendered":"Second man accused of Cork ATM robbery remanded in custody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">A second man accused of playing a part in a violent robbery from a 64-year-old man who was withdrawing \u20ac40 from an ATM on Marlboro St in Cork city centre shortly before 6pm on a Sunday afternoon was remanded in custody until July 29.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Judge David Waters remanded the accused in custody, on the application of Sergeant Aisling Murphy for directions from the DPP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Trevor O\u2019Sullivan (24) of Cork Simon Community appeared in Cork District Court by video link from prison.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The injured party was allegedly caught in a headlock and robbed by three men.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Garda Cathal McCarthy outlined the allegations in the related case of a co-accused, that garda\u00ed received reports of a robbery from a person on Marlboro St which had allegedly occurred before 6pm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Garda Cathal McCarthy, who was on beat patrol in the city centre and was informed that a 64-year-old man had just been robbed of cash which he had taken out of the AIB ATM on Marlboro St.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cThe injured party said he had withdrawn \u20ac40 cash when a male came up from behind him and placed him in a headlock, and that two other males proceeded to take his money from him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cThere were a number of witnesses who saw the incident unfold.
