was pronounced dead on Sunday morning<\/a> after he was discovered unresponsive in his tent at Love is a Stranger festival.<\/p>\nThe festival took place on the grounds of Ballyvolane House in Castlelyons.<\/p>\n
This was the second edition of Another Love Story\u2019s roaming mini festival series, with artists on the festival bill including Move D, Colleen \u2018Cosmo\u2019 Murphy, Fixity, Seamas Hyland, Sorcha Richardson, Theatre, and John Spillane.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed and emergency services attended the scene shortly after 11.30am. It is understood first responders performed CPR on Mr O\u2019Brien for a short period of time before he was subsequently pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Mr O\u2019Brien has been described as a well-known and respected member of the electronic music scene in Cork.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the Irish Examiner, Cork DJ and radio presenter Stevie Grainger, also known as Stevie G, said his death would be felt by all members of the music industry on Leeside.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was a well-known and popular DJ in Cork,\u201d said Mr Grainger.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was known around the scene and will be sadly missed by the community.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Cyprus Avenue in Cork City offered their condolences to the loved ones of Mr O\u2019Brien.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re heartbroken to know that local DJ, Beanzy, passed away this weekend,\u201d said the spokesperson.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family at this time.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Fellow Cork musician and member of The Love Buzz, Aidan Lynch, said Mr O\u2019Brien would \u201clisten to and help anyone in need\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was one of the kindest and friendly people you could meet,\u201d said Mr Lynch.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is gone too soon.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Another friend of the deceased, who has asked to remain anonymous, said Mr O\u2019Brien was \u201ca talented DJ who truly loved music\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was also a really decent guy, kind, funny, and great company,\u201d the friend said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCork’s \u2014 and Ireland’s \u2014 electronic music scene will be much poorer due to his loss.”<\/p>\n
Fellow electronic music DJ Eddie TR One said he would “never, ever” forget Mr O’Brien.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile I struggle to keep the tears in \u2014 waiting for the numbness to slowly subside \u2014 I’m aiming to remember the good times, the kindness you showed me, and the light you brought into my life,” said DJ Eddie.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou were always there for me and me for you.<\/p>\n
“A best friend with a brotherly bond \u2014 one we forged through music and one that I will continue for you.<\/p>\n
“Let’s still obsess over our favourite records in this life and the next.<\/p>\n
“I just played one of your recommendations at a gig on Sunday, only just before hearing the devastating news.<\/p>\n
“Our community will grow stronger because of you. I will never, ever forget you.\u201d<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na confirmed the coroner has been notified of the death, and a post-mortem examination was being arranged.<\/p>\n
“There are no further details available,” the Garda spokesperson said on Monday.<\/p>\n
