{"id":559791,"date":"2026-07-20T23:24:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T23:24:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/559791\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T23:24:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T23:24:11","slug":"man-20s-facing-nine-sexual-offences-in-donegal-remanded-in-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/559791\/","title":{"rendered":"Man (20s) facing nine sexual offences in Donegal remanded in custody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man who has been charged with four counts of rape in Co Donegal has been further remanded in custody.<\/p>\n<p>The man, who is in his 20s and cannot be named at this stage of proceedings due to the nature of the charges, appeared before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.donegaldaily.com\/courts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Letterkenny District Court.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The man was before Judge Emile Daly via video link from prison and faces a total of nine charges.<\/p>\n<p>He has been charged in relation to offences alleged to have occurred in Donegal in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>He faces four counts of rape. Some of the rape charges are contrary to section 4 of the Criminal Law (Rape) (Amendment) Act 1990 and the others are contrary to section 48 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 and section 2 of the Criminal Law (Rape) Act 1981, as amended by section 21 of the Criminal Law (Rape) (Amendment) Act 1990.<\/p>\n<p>The man is also accused of three counts of sending sexually explicit material to a child under the age of 17.
