A MAN from Athy who allegedly groped a woman in bed following a house party will have to return to court in October to learn his trial date.<\/p>\n
The man aged in his 20s appeared in Athy District Court last week faced a charge of sexual assault following the alleged incident at an address in the town on 29 April 2025.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was following a house party when the accused got into her bed, and when she woke up he was kissing her neck, feeling her chest area and buttocks,\u201d explained Sergeant Dave Hanrahan.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe followed him out, was pushed to the ground, and grazed her elbows.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was known to her, as they had met four or five times in the past.\u201d The sergeant told the court a file had already gone to the DPP who had indicated \u201ctrial by indictment\u201d, that is, a trial in the Circuit Court before a jury, and confirmed that the accused had previously signed a \u20ac1,000 bail bond.<\/p>\n
\u201cBook of evidence?\u201d asked Judge Desmond Zaidan.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe six weeks?\u201d suggested the sergeant.<\/p>\n
\u201cWill I give you until October?\u201d asked the judge.<\/p>\n
