The unveiling of a re-worked Sinead O’Connor<\/a> wax figure has been postponed “until further notice”.<\/p>\n

It was set to be shown to the public on Thursday, July 23 but organisers have decided to scrap it.<\/p>\n

An original sculpture of the Nothing Compares 2 U singer, which was described as “hideous” by her brother, Joseph O\u2019Connor, was pulled within 24 hours of being unveiled in 2024.<\/p>\n

At the time, the National Wax Museum said it was withdrawing its wax figure of O\u2019Connor<\/a> and launching a new project “to create a more accurate representation” of the singer.<\/p>\n

Museum director Paddy Dunning \u2013 a long-time close friend of the singer \u2013 admitted they “can do better” and the image “did not meet our high standards or the expectations of Sinead\u2019s devoted fans”.<\/p>\n

A new sculpture was set to be released on Thursday, but this has now been “postponed until further notice due to unforeseen circumstances.”<\/p>\n

In a statement, the National Wax Museum Plus said: “The National Wax Museum Plus has announced that the planned unveiling of its new Sin\u00e9ad O’Connor wax figure, scheduled to take place on Thursday, 23 July 2026, has been postponed until further notice due to unforeseen circumstances.<\/p>\n

“A new launch date will be announced in due course, and updated details will be shared with members of the media and the public as soon as they are confirmed.<\/p>\n

“The National Wax Museum Plus apologises for any inconvenience this postponement may cause and sincerely appreciates the understanding and patience of those who had planned to attend.”<\/p>\n
