Heartland FM will stop broadcasting after 34 years, ending community radio services from its base in Crieff.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The Perthshire station announced it will cease broadcasting and close because it can no longer operate on a financially sustainable basis. The decision was made by the Heartland Radio Foundation after what it described as a long search for a viable business model.<\/p>\n

In a statement published on the station\u2019s website, the organisation said the current financial climate and the growing challenge of maintaining a sustainable future meant it was no longer able to continue operating.<\/p>\n

Heartland FM said it had become more than a radio station during its 34 years on air, serving as a platform for local voices, local news and information, while helping people build friendships and community connections.<\/p>\n

The statement thanked listeners for their support throughout the station\u2019s history. It said: \u201cIt is with great sadness that we share this difficult news with our listeners.\u201d<\/p>\n

The board of trustees also thanked those who had supported the station over the years, saying: \u201cThank you for being part of our journey.\u201d<\/p>\n
