{"id":560370,"date":"2026-07-21T07:46:18","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T07:46:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/560370\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T07:46:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T07:46:18","slug":"tributes-paid-to-kind-talented-cork-dj-who-died-at-north-cork-music-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/560370\/","title":{"rendered":"Tributes paid to \u2018kind, talented\u2019 Cork DJ who died at North Cork music festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">Tributes have been paid following the death of a prominent Cork DJ, Mark \u2018Beanzy\u2019 O\u2019Brien, who died at a festival over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Mr O\u2019Brien, who was aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead on Sunday morning after he was discovered unresponsive in his tent at the\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.echolive.ie\/corknews\/arid-41882182.html\">Love is a Stranger<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The festival was the second edition of Another Love Story\u2019s roaming mini-festival series, and took place on the grounds of Ballyvolane House at Castlelyons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Garda\u00ed and emergency services attended the scene shortly after 11.30am. It is understood that first responders performed CPR on Mr O\u2019Brien for a short period of time before he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Mr O\u2019Brien has been described as a well-known and respected member of the electronic music scene in Cork.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">Will be sadly missed<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Speaking to  The Echo, Cork DJ and radio presenter Stevie Grainger, also known as Stevie G, said Mr O\u2019Brien\u2019s death will be felt by all members of the music industry on Leeside.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cHe was a well-known and popular DJ in Cork. He was known around the scene, and will be sadly missed by the community,\u201d said Mr Grainger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Fellow electronic music DJ, Eddie \u2018TR One\u2019 said he will \u201cnever ever\u201d forget Mr O\u2019Brien.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cWhile I struggle to keep the tears in \u2014 waiting for the numbness to slowly subside \u2014 I\u2019m aiming to remember the good times, the kindness you showed me, and the light you brought into my life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cYou were always there for me and me for you.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\n            \u201cA best friend with a brotherly bond \u2014 one we forged through music and one that I will continue for you. Let\u2019s still obsess over our favourite records in this life and the next.\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cI just played one of your recommendations at a gig on Sunday only just before hearing the devastating news.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cOur community will grow stronger because of you. I will never ever forget you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">Gone too soon<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Fellow Cork musician and member of The Love Buzz, Aidan Lynch, said Mr O\u2019Brien would \u201clisten to and help anyone in need\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\n            \u201cHe was one of the kindest and friendliest people you could meet.\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cHe is gone too soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Another friend of the deceased, who has asked to remain anonymous, said Mr O\u2019Brien was \u201ca talented DJ who truly loved music\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\n            \u201cHe was also a really decent guy, kind, funny, and great company.
