Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said on Monday that an initial finding from a probe into an incident in which a passenger was partly sucked out of a Boeing 737’s broken window suggested “foreign object damage.”<\/p>\n

“Initial indication would suggest it looks like a foreign object damage to the engine on takeoff at Thessaloniki, but we don’t have, we can’t say that definitively,” O’Leary told analysts while presenting Ryanair’s results for the April-June quarter.<\/p>\n

He added that a draft report on the incident would be issued in about 28 days, followed by a more detailed report.<\/p>\n

Last week, the US National Transportation Safety Board said Thursday it will lead the investigation into an incident in which a passenger was partly sucked out of a Ryanair Boeing 737’s broken window over Greece last week.<\/p>\n

The NTSB said Greece had delegated the lead role to the agency in the probe.<\/p>\n

Ryanair warned on Monday<\/a> that its average summer fares looked set to be down on last year amid uncertainty around the Iran war, as it reported after-tax profit for the low-cost airline’s April-June quarter fell short of analyst forecasts.<\/p>\n

Europe’s largest airline by passenger numbers reported an after-tax profit of \u20ac538m in the three months that ended June 30 – down from \u20ac820m for the equivalent period in 2025 – for its fiscal first quarter through June 30, compared with a forecast of \u20ac579m in a company poll of analysts. <\/p>\n
