{"id":561293,"date":"2026-07-21T19:55:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T19:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/561293\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T19:55:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T19:55:11","slug":"funeral-details-announced-for-cork-dj-mark-beanzy-obrien","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/561293\/","title":{"rendered":"Funeral details announced for Cork DJ, Mark &#8216;Beanzy&#8217; O&#8217;Brien"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">Well-known Cork DJ, Mark \u2018Beanzy\u2019 O\u2019Brien, who died at a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.echolive.ie\/corknews\/arid-41882182.html\">music festival<\/a> in North Cork on Sunday, will be laid to rest on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Mr O\u2019Brien, who was aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead on Sunday morning after he was discovered unresponsive in his tent at Love is a Stranger Festival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The festival was the second edition of Another Love Story\u2019s roaming mini-festival series, and took place on the grounds of Ballyvolane House in Castlelyons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Speaking to  The Echo, friends of Mr O\u2019Brien, Liam Chambers and Ash O\u2019Donovan said Cork \u201cwon\u2019t be the same without him\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cAnyone who knew Beanzy will tell you what an absolute gent he was. You wouldn\u2019t find a kinder and more caring soul in Cork,\u201d said Liam and Ash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cBeanzy was always there for us whenever we needed advice or just a friend to talk to. He was the type of person that would do absolutely anything for you.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cHe shared such a deep passion for music, which is what brought so many of us together, and everything he did came straight from the heart, simply for the love and passion we all share.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cRest in peace Beanzy, you will always be in our hearts.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Another friend, Jamie Behan, said Mr O\u2019Brien was \u201cloved and respected across Cork&#8217;s music community and beyond&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cBesides being an incredible DJ who had music in his soul, anybody who ever met Beanzy will tell you that he was one of the funniest, kindest, nicest, and most genuinely caring people they have ever met,\u201d said Mr Behan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cOn a personal note, I will never forget our deep conversations, friendly arguments over vinyl, silly laughs, and big brotherly hugs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cCork has lost one of its best, but Beanzy will never be forgotten by any of us.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cMy deepest condolences to Mark&#8217;s family.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Mr O\u2019Brien is survived by his parents, Julie and Tom, siblings Keira, Jake and Sophia, niece, Nora, brother-in-law, Roy, his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and large circle of friends.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He will lie in repose at the Wilton Funeral Home on the Sarsfield Road on Thursday from 5pm to 6pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A cremation service will then take place at 4pm on Friday at the Island Crematorium in Ringaskiddy. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Well-known Cork DJ, Mark \u2018Beanzy\u2019 O\u2019Brien, who died at a music festival in North Cork on Sunday, will&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":561294,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[79,93,61,60],"class_list":["post-561293","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-entertainment","tag-cork-news","tag-entertainment","tag-ie","tag-ireland"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/561293","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=561293"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/561293\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/561294"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=561293"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=561293"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=561293"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
