Issues surrounding privacy, dignity and cold food have been found during an inspection of a nursing home in Sligo<\/p>\n
Sligo Nursing Home located in Ballytivnan is a purpose-built facility located within a short walking distance of Sligo town.<\/p>\n
The centre can accommodate a maximum of 62 residents. Residents are accommodated in single and twin bedrooms.<\/p>\n
The unannounced inspection took place in January with the details published today.<\/p>\n
Overall, residents living in Sligo Nursing Home were said to be content and felt that they were well cared for by the centre’s team of staff.<\/p>\n
However, eight twin-occupancy bedrooms in the Ben Bulben area were not suitable for the needs of residents accommodated in these shared rooms.<\/p>\n
This is said to be a repeated non-compliance since 2021.<\/p>\n
The privacy and dignity of residents accommodated in these rooms were said to be impacted by the layout, size and close proximity of bed spaces.<\/p>\n
The inspector also found that the external garden area of the centre was poorly maintained, had limited space and lacked interest.<\/p>\n
The smoking shelter provided did not provide adequate shelter or protection from the weather extremities.<\/p>\n
The inspector also found that the food served in the ground floor area from the serving trolley for residents was not hot. Staff had not checked or recognised this and were serving these meals to residents.<\/p>\n
