\n\tPour up the gin and juice: Snoop Dogg\u2019s<\/a> biopic<\/a> is set to hit U.S. theaters on Aug. 6, 2027. Universal Pictures made next summer\u2019s release date official with an announcement on Tuesday (July 21).<\/p>\n

\n\tA press release billed the film as the \u201cdefinitive biopic\u201d of\u00a0Snoop\u00a0Dogg (born Calvin Broadus). Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss is set to play the Death Row icon, while Hustle & Flow\u2018s Craig Brewer is onboard to direct.<\/p>\n

\n\tTitled Snoop, the rap legend\u2019s film<\/a> will be rated R. It\u2019s still unclear if the movie will focus on a specific era of Snoop Dogg\u2019s decorated career or span his entire life. Universal previously helmed acclaimed rap-centric films like the N.W.A<\/a> biopic Straight Outta Compton and the Eminem<\/a>-starring 8 Mile.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe West Coast legend initially revealed plans for the biopic while speaking at CinemaCon<\/a> in April, which included production starting this summer. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAfter my brothers got to tell their story with\u00a0Straight Outta Compton, now it\u2019s my turn,\u201d the rapper told the Las Vegas audience. \u201cMy director, Craig Brewer, he just showed us how hard it is out here for a pimp from\u00a0Hustle & Flow. And then last year, he got us all singing \u2018Sweet Caroline,’\u201d Snoop added, referencing the Brewer-directed Song Sung Blue.<\/p>\n

\n\tOutside of N.W.A and Eminem, other rap luminaries such as 50 Cent,<\/a> The Notorious B.I.G.<\/a> and 2Pac <\/a>have had movies at least loosely based around their lives.<\/p>\n

\n\tEven at 54 years old, the Long Beach native is still keeping busy dropping music and completing plenty of side missions. Snoop teamed up with Kurupt and DJ Battlecat for \u201cMe N the Boyz\u201d last Friday (July 17).<\/p>\n

\n\tTo date, Snoop Dogg has scored 45\u00a0Billboard Hot 100<\/a>\u00a0entries, which include notching No. 1 hits like \u201cDrop It Like It\u2019s Hot\u201d and as a featured guest on\u00a0Katy Perry\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0\u201cCalifornia Gurls\u201d and\u00a0Akon\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0\u201cI Wanna Love You.\u201d<\/p>\n
