The PGA Tour<\/a>, Europe\u2019s DP World Tour<\/a> and the Asian Tour announced a strategic alliance on \u200cTuesday in another potential setback for LIV Golf<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The DP World Tour said this new chapter for global golf is effective immediately and \u200cruns through to at least 2029, creating new commercial and playing opportunities while establishing pathways for leading Asian Tour members to join European circuits starting in \u200b2027.<\/p>\n

\u201cBringing the three tours together under one partnership will increase the bandwidth of the professional game in Asia,\u201d said Cho Minn Thant, commissioner and CEO of the Asian Tour. \u201cNot only will co-sanctioning events see our members competing regularly on the global stage, but we are excited \u200bto welcome players from the other tours to our pinnacle events, which showcase the strength and diversity of golf in Asia.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Asian Tour has \u2060had a relationship with LIV Golf since the rival Saudi Arabia-backed tour launched in 2022. LIV Golf \u200cinvested $300 \u200cmillion \u200bin the Asian Tour and created the International Series, featuring purses of up to $2 million.<\/p>\n

Before that, the DP World Tour had an alliance with the Asian Tour and co-sanctioned \u2060events from 2016-21. The new relationship is \u200bexpected to feature at least two co-sanctioned Asian Tour events \u200bin each of the next three years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are delighted to rekindle our historic relationship with the Asian Tour and \u200cindeed strengthen it with the addition of \u200bthe PGA Tour to our new partnership,\u201d said Ben Cowen, chief tournament and operations officer for the DP World \u2060Tour.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs golf\u2019s global tour, we bring together \u2060the best international talent \u200band the formal pathways established by this partnership will provide unprecedented international opportunities for Asian Tour members. Our agreement therefore represents not only a hugely positive step for golf in Asia, but also an exciting new era of collaboration for our game globally.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christian Hardy, PGA Tour senior vice-president of international, praised the three tours\u2019 \u201cshared vision for the future of professional golf\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough our strategic alliance with the DP World Tour, we have worked to build a more connected global golf ecosystem and we are excited to welcome the \u200cAsian Tour into that \u2060effort,\u201d Hardy said. \u201cTogether, we are creating new opportunities for players, enhancing key national opens around the world and continuing to evolve and strengthen pathways to identify and develop the next generation of elite talent.\u201d<\/p>\n

World \u200cNo 2 Rory McIlroy<\/a> posted about the alliance on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cPositive news,\u201d he wrote, \u201cand great to see the respective \u200btours working together for the good of international golf.\u201d<\/p>\n
