\n\tElon Musk<\/a> has \u2014\u00a0finally \u2014\u00a0broken his silence on \u201cThe Odyssey<\/a>\u201d (well, at least since Christopher Nolan\u2019s epic was released and started breaking various box office records).<\/p>\n

\n\tThe tech mogul and recently-crowned trillionaire \u2014\u00a0who spent some time before the film\u2019s launch rallying against various casting decisions \u2014\u00a0wrote on his social media platform X that his AI tool Grok Imagine would make a \u201chistorically accurate\u201d full-length feature version of Homer\u2019s ancient Greek poem. He noted that his AI \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d would be ready by the end of 2026 (just in time for awards season). <\/p>\n

\n\tGiven the presence of cyclops, six-headed monsters and a witch who turns sailors into pigs in \u201cThe Odyssey,\u201d a nearly 2,800 year old epic considered to be a work of fiction, how \u201chistorically accurate\u201d any retelling \u2014\u00a0AI generated or otherwise \u2014\u00a0can be is likely to be called into question.<\/p>\n

\n\tPresumably, Musk is referring to the racial element, with him having been the most prominent voice attacking the casting of Lupita Nyong\u2019o as Helen of Troy. In March he wrote that \u201cChris Nolan is an anti-White racist,\u201d claiming that he only cast Nyong\u2019o because \u201cHe wants the awards.\u201d While not confirmed, the all-white AI cast of the short film he posted on X would appear to be more in line with what Musk would prefer. <\/p>\n

\n\tMusk had also supporting transphobic posts about Elliot Page, who many initially asserted was playing Achilles. Page was later confirmed as playing Sinon. <\/p>\n

\n\tFor all Musk\u2019s complaints about \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d before its release, the movie has been nothing short of a triumphant success for Universal and appears destined to become Nolan\u2019s highest-grossing film to date.
