{"id":562489,"date":"2026-07-22T12:21:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T12:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/562489\/"},"modified":"2026-07-22T12:21:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T12:21:10","slug":"e-scooters-scramblers-seized-after-driven-dangerously","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/562489\/","title":{"rendered":"E-scooters, scramblers seized after driven dangerously"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Garda\u00ed have seized e-scooters, e-bikes and a scrambler from people driving them dangerously in West Dublin.<\/p>\n<p>A man and a teenager were arrested and charged.<\/p>\n<p>A drone from the newly established Garda Drone Unit was used for the first time in yesterday&#8217;s operation which was led by the Dublin Crime Response Team.<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed carried out patrols and also stopped a number of drivers in Finglas and Blanchardstown.<\/p>\n<p>The drone was used to identify and follow people on e-scooters. One person was tracked back to a house where they were arrested in the garden.<\/p>\n<p>Others abandoned the e-scooters and ran from garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A man with a blurred face in a Garda jacket holds a scrambler bike\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/0024bd4b-614.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Eleven e-scooters, two e-bikes and one scrambler were seized as part of the garda operation Meac\u00e1n.<\/p>\n<p>It was set up to tackle the illegal use of electric motorbikes, e-scooters and e-bikes in public areas.<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed say they are also being used for criminal activity including drug distribution, money laundering, transporting firearms, drug-related intimidation and other serious offences.<\/p>\n<p>The man arrested has been bailed to appear in court on a later date while the male teenager is being referred to the Garda National Youth Diversion Bureau.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Garda\u00ed have seized e-scooters, e-bikes and a scrambler from people driving them dangerously in West Dublin.
