EastEnders<\/a> star Nicholas Bailey<\/a> has revealed his next big role, seven months after his character Anthony Trueman’s on-screen death<\/a>. The character was killed off dramatically last Christmas, with daughter Jasmine eventually revealed to be the culprit.<\/p>\n

Following his soap departure, Nicholas has landed a role in iconic play The Mousetrap, the star joining the upcoming touring production that will mark the long-running show’s 75th anniversary.<\/p>\n

Set to appear alongside Emmerdale<\/a>‘s Susan Penhaligon, the show will tour stops across the UK and Ireland starting in September in Birmingham, before hitting places such as Manchester, Sheffield, Cardiff, Sunderland, Edinburgh, Glasgow and York, and wrapping up in High Wycombe next July.<\/p>\n

Breaking the record for the longest theatrical run, The Mousetrap was written by the Queen of Crime, Agatha Christie, and famously contains “best-kept secret in theatre history”.<\/p>\n

“A shocking murder rattles London,” the synopsis reads. “Far from the chaos, a remote country guesthouse welcomes seven strangers seeking refuge.<\/p>\n

“But when a police sergeant battles through a deadly snowstorm with a warning no one expects, it becomes clear the threat is already within their walls.<\/p>\n

Nicholas returned to EastEnders last year before his character was killed off, and said following his exit<\/a>: “Obviously, it was bittersweet because it meant I was leaving, and I\u2019ve felt really at home since I came back to EastEnders. But the storyline itself is tremendous, and it gave me much more to do than I expected.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s been great to come out of my comfort zone and play some spectacular scenes full of spectacular lines. My jaw hit the floor when our producer Ben Wadey told me where this was going and what was going to happen.”<\/p>\n

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast. <\/p>\n
