Wellington Management, Vanguard and Blackstone, which announced a collaboration on public\/private product development<\/a> last year, are launching the first two of those funds, aimed at giving individual investors simplified access to managed portfolios that combine public and private markets. The funds are the WVB All Markets Fund and the WVB Blackstone All Privates Fund.<\/p>\n

The partnership between Blackstone, the largest alternative asset manager, Vanguard, the largest ETF issuer, along with Wellington, which manages $1.3 trillion across a variety of asset classes, has been closely watched since its announcement. It\u2019s part of a broader trend of joint ventures between traditional and alternative asset managers<\/a> seeking to build private-public investment products, and it\u2019s one of the highest-profile tie-ups.<\/p>\n

The WVB All Markets Fund, which the partnership filed with the SEC last May<\/a>, is a multi-asset interval fund that will integrate Wellington\u2019s active public equities strategies with Vanguard\u2019s active fixed income and index strategies and exposure to Blackstone\u2019s perpetual private markets platform. The fund will trade under tickers WVBIX, WVBAX and WVBMX. According to the SEC filing for the fund, public equities allocation will make up 40% to 60% of its assets; public fixed-income investments will range between 15% and 30% of assets (and will rely on Vanguard\u2019s core-plus bond strategy<\/a>); while private market allocations will range between 25% and 40%.<\/p>\n

The WVB Blackstone All Privates Fund, which was filed with the SEC in December<\/a>, will provide access to strategies available through Blackstone\u2019s private markets platform, including private equity, private infrastructure, private real estate and private credit, via a single allocation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe WVB interval fund series represents three powerhouse brands and is designed to open up private markets investing for investors who have little to no alts investment exposure,\u201d wrote Kimberly Flynn, president at XA Investments, which tracks interval funds and tender offer funds, in an email. \u201cThe public\/private segment of the interval fund market is fairly new, with Capital Group \/ KKR leading the way<\/a> with their two public\/private credit funds that launched in 2025<\/a>. Based on XA Investments\u2019 interval fund market research, we anticipate the WVB interval fund launch to accelerate this trend. A number of public\/private market asset blends are in the SEC registration process now and should launch in the next six to nine months, including the recently filed T. Rowe\/Goldman Sachs All Equity Access fund.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Flynn noted, the launch is part of a growing trend in the asset management industry toward offering investment products that combine exposure to public and private markets, although there is currently no consensus on a preferred vehicle. The Blackstone\/Wellington\/Vanguard products, like the Capital Group\/KKR ones, are interval funds. Other managers have opted to build model portfolios that include exposure to both public and private funds. In addition, major UMA providers have begun adding private market functionality to their platforms<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Capital Group and KKR were among the first asset managers to strike such a partnership, launching two interval funds focused on fixed-income investments<\/a>. Late last year, State Street Investment Management bought a strategic minority interest in alternative asset manager Coller Capital<\/a> to broaden its clients\u2019 access to private markets investments. Then, just a few weeks ago, Morningstar\u2019s Wealth division revealed it was working with Apollo, Franklin Templeton and J.P. Morgan Asset Management to launch a suite of public\/private model portfolios<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Other asset managers, including Fidelity<\/a> and VanEck<\/a>, have been experimenting with custom model portfolios that invest in ETFs and mutual funds alongside interval funds and tender offer funds to give their clients private markets exposure.<\/p>\n

\u201cPublic\/private combinations are a great way for traditional firms to expand their reach by partnering with well-established alternative investment managers. It also allows these large asset managers to expand their distribution base within the private wealth market,\u201d Flynn wrote.<\/p>\n

Both of the funds announced by the Wellington, Vanguard, Blackstone partnership will be available to clients using the wealth management platform at Merrill and Bank of America Private Bank. Wellington will serve as portfolio manager for the funds, overseeing construction and management. The funds are meant to be used together as part of comprehensive portfolio construction, according to Wellington executives speaking on background.<\/p>\n

Wellington, Vanguard and Blackstone plan to explore additional distribution opportunities across the wealth system over time.<\/p>\n
