Cameron Menzies was taken ill during his World Matchplay second-round match against Ross Smith in Blackpool on Wednesday and required medical attention on stage.<\/p>\n
The Scot, who beat world number two Luke Humphries in the previous round, was leading 2-1 but appeared to become unsteady on his feet and had to be helped off the stage by his opponent.<\/p>\n
Menzies was cleared by medics backstage, it was subsequently confirmed, but was forced to forfeit the match as he was not able to continue.<\/p>\n
The PDC said: “Cameron experienced high blood pressure, which caused him to feel dizzy and subsequently faint.<\/p>\n
“Following an assessment by the on-site medical team, Cameron was deemed well enough to return to his accommodation.<\/p>\n
“We wish Cameron all the best and look forward to seeing him back in action soon.”<\/p>\n
Seventh seed Gerwyn Price knocked out fellow former world champion Ross Cross with a fine performance.<\/p>\n
The Welshman recovered from 3-2 down to triumph in six consecutive legs en route to an eventual 11-5 victory.<\/p>\n
World number three Gian van Veen secured his spot in the quarter-final, edging out fellow Dutchman Wessel Nijman.<\/p>\n
