Katie Piper has spoken out after discovering AI photos of herself had been created by strangers on the internet who wanted to see her looking \u2018normal.\u2019<\/p>\n

The mum-of-two and former model had sulphuric acid thrown in her face in 2008, causing severe burns and leaving her blind in one eye<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since then, Katie has become an activist and often spoken openly about her recovery, with her now saying that the AI photos feel like the \u2018start of a much bigger story\u2019 about what is \u2018normal\u2019 and beauty standards.<\/p>\n

Sharing the images that were created, using a photo of her from the NTAs in 2016, Katie wrote<\/a>: \u2018So, today I found out what I\u2019d look like if I was \u201cnormal\u201d\u2026 according to AI and thousands of strangers on the internet.<\/p>\n

\u2018Someone uploaded a photo of me to Grok and asked it to \u201cfix her face.\u201d Since then I\u2019ve been repeatedly tagged in a thread where people debate my appearance and share AI-generated versions of what I \u201cshould\u201d look like.\u2019<\/p>\n

Katie continued: \u2018I\u2019m okay. I\u2019m not posting this because I need reassurance. I\u2019m posting it because I\u2019m wondering what happens when this isn\u2019t aimed at someone who\u2019s spent nearly two decades rebuilding their confidence.<\/p>\n

\u2018What happens when it\u2019s a teenager? Someone newly injured? Someone living with a visible difference who\u2019s still trying to find their feet?<\/p>\n

\u2018We\u2019re entering a world where AI doesn\u2019t just generate images. It quietly reinforces ideas about what\u2019s considered \u201cnormal\u201d, \u201cacceptable\u201d or \u201cbeautiful\u201d and millions of people consume those messages without even noticing.\u2019<\/p>\n

Further explaining that she\u2019s okay, Katie wrote: \u2018For what it\u2019s worth, I don\u2019t spend my life wondering what I would have looked like. Apparently the internet does enough of that for both of us.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think this conversation is much bigger than me. It\u2019s about AI, bias, beauty standards, anonymity, empathy, and where we draw the line. It feels like the start of a much bigger story, one I think we should investigate.<\/p>\n

\u2018What happens when AI decides what \u201cnormal\u201d looks like? Who gets erased by those standards? Have you had an experience?\u2019<\/p>\n

Hundreds of people reacted to the post, with Rivals star Emily Atack saying: \u2018You are perfect as you are. Genuinely. The most beautiful woman ever.\u2019<\/p>\n

Beauty boss Caroline Hirons added: \u2018This is as disgraceful as you are divine, my friend. Absolutely disgraceful people. Sending you all the love.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018F***ing hell, Katie. I honestly have no words. I\u2019m so glad you can rise above this but jeeeez. Sending so much love,\u2019 commented Laura Adlington.<\/p>\n

\u2018It should be illegal to put images of people into AI without their consent. Our faces are personal data,\u2019 wrote someone else, while others said the pictures and AI prompt were \u2018vile\u2019 and \u2018cruel.’<\/p>\n

Once again, we’re amazed by Katie’s strength at being able to rise above other people’s comments.<\/p>\n
