It\u2019s not as if Benicio Del Toro<\/a> has never done comedy before, but after his work in \u201cOne Battle After Another<\/a>,\u201d the Oscar winner is clearly entering his \u201cfew small beers\u201d phase of his career.<\/p>\n

Del Toro will star in what will be his first ever comedy series, a comedy called \u201cProtective Custody\u201d that is set at Apple TV<\/a>, the streamer announced Wednesday. The series hails from \u201cKing of the Hill<\/a>\u201d and \u201cBeavis and Butthead\u201d creator Mike Judge<\/a>, as well as Emmy-winner Steve Hely (\u201cVeep,\u201d \u201cThe Office\u201d) and Dave King (\u201cParks and Recreation,\u201d \u201cEnglish Teacher\u201d) alongside executive producer Ben Stiller<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cProtective Custody\u201d will follow a disgraced financier accused of massive fraud who is thrown into protective custody, where he must navigate prison politics, salvage his reputation, and confront the consequences of his actions while awaiting trial. Character details are being kept under wraps.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a reunion for Del Toro and Stiller, who previously worked together on the (not a comedy) limited series \u201cEscape at Dannemora<\/a>,\u201d which was also an Apple TV<\/a> series. <\/p>\n

Judge will co-write, co-showrun and direct \u201cProtective Custody,\u201d and this is a reunion of Judge, Hely, and King after they all worked together on \u201cCommon Side Effects.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cProtective Custody\u201d is a production of Apple Studios, Red Hour, Propagate Content, and 3 Arts Entertainment, which will all executive produce. Stiller and John Lesher will executive produce for Red Hour; Ben Silverman (\u201cThe Office, \u201cStick\u201d), Howard Owens, and Rodney Ferrell executive produce for Propagate Content; and, Michael Rotenberg (\u201cIt\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,\u201d \u201cSilicon Valley,\u201d \u201cKing of the Hill\u201d) and Oly Obst (\u201cNobody Wants This,\u201d \u201cWill Trent\u201d) executive produce for 3 Arts Entertainment. Academy Award-nominee Nanette Burstein will also serve as executive producer.<\/p>\n
