{"id":563915,"date":"2026-07-23T07:47:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T07:47:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/563915\/"},"modified":"2026-07-23T07:47:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T07:47:15","slug":"new-shimano-rx710-gravel-shoes-trickle-down-features-from-premium-gravel-race-shoes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/563915\/","title":{"rendered":"New Shimano RX710 gravel shoes trickle down features from premium gravel race shoes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shimano has launched a new gravel shoe, the RX710, which it claims offers premium race technology to a wider range of gravel riders.<\/p>\n<p>The new shoe trickles down features from Shimano\u2019s premium <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/2025-shimano-rx910-s-phyre-gravel-shoes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S-Phyre RX910<\/a> gravel race shoe, launched last year, but Shimano claims it&#8217;s equally at home on gravel adventure rides and multi-day bikepacking adventures, offering a versatile option and all-day comfort for gravel riders.<\/p>\n<p>Shimano rates the new shoe\u2019s stiffness at 9 out of 12 on its scale, while the RX910 is rated at 12. It uses a carbon-reinforced midsole that Shimano says has a low stack height.<\/p>\n<p>It includes the brand\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/first-look-friday\/shimano-s-phyre-rx910-shoes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pontoon cleat system<\/a>, introduced with the RX910, where the cleat sits on a floating sole plate that includes rubber blocks on each side, which it claims increases foot stability as well as &#8216;walkability&#8217; off the bike and ensures a more secure pedal-to-cleat connection.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"3004\" height=\"2016\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/687660-SH-RX710-shic-89-primary_5-33d3be-original-1783514836.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-984883\"\/>The pontoon cleat has side blocks to increase foot stability on the pedal. <\/p>\n<p>The pontoon cleats also have the advantage of being user-replaceable, so you can swap them out if they become worn and your feet are rocking on your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-gravel-bike-pedals\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">gravel pedals<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"3300\" height=\"2188\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/687652-SH-RX710-shic-6-primary_2-a1056d-original-17835148311.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-984886\"\/>Twin Boa L6Z dials ensure adjustability, but they can&#8217;t be loosened incrementally. <\/p>\n<p>Up top, the RX710 is made of synthetic leather and the upper is secured by two Boa L6Z dial closures. Unlike the Li2 used on the RX910, these don\u2019t offer a turn-to-loosen function, but require the dial to be pulled up to release the cable then retightening if you want to loosen the fit.<\/p>\n<p>Shimano quotes a 315g per shoe weight in size 43, versus 304g for the RX910, so there\u2019s not much weight penalty for switching to the lower-priced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-gravel-bike-shoes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">gravel bike shoe<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"3300\" height=\"3300\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/687653-SH-RX710-primary_6-354d2b-original-1783514831.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-984880\"\/>The &#8216;sand white&#8217; colour option may not be optimal for UK winter riding. <\/p>\n<p>As usual, Shimano offers a wide range of sizes, and there are standard, wide and narrow fits available in three colours: black, navy, and &#8216;sand white&#8217; for those who enjoy shoe cleaning.<\/p>\n<p>Standard-width shoes come in sizes 38 to 50, with half sizes from 39.5 to 46.5.<\/p>\n<p>Wide shoe sizes are 38 to 48, with the same 39.5 to 46.5 half sizes.<\/p>\n<p>Narrow sizes are 36 to 44, in whole sizes only.<\/p>\n<p>The new Shimano RX710 is priced at \u00a3269.99 \/ \u20ac254.95.
