\n\tWhile Elon Musk attempts to rival The Odyssey<\/a> with an AI-generated take<\/a>, Christopher Nolan<\/a> sees how the historical epic serves as a metaphor for the public\u2019s distrust in the tech.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 2x Oscar winning director recently agreed with a comparison of artificial intelligence to a Trojan horse \u201cmade of glass,\u201d acknowledging the similarities to Greeks presenting the horse to Troy as a gift during the Trojan War, only to use it to sneak inside the city and win the war.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think AI<\/a> is a Trojan horse that everybody knows the Greeks are inside,\u201d said Nolan on the Hugo D\u00e9crypte<\/a> YouTube, adding: \u201cIt\u2019s a transparent horse, it\u2019s made of glass. Everybody can see what\u2019s going on inside of there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNoting how AI has \u201ctaken over Wall Street\u201d in recent years, Nolan praised Gen Z<\/a> for its \u201cvery healthy skepticism\u201d of the technology\u2019s rapid growth.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve never seen a technology advancing so rapidly, so completely rejected by the public. Everybody\u2019s suspicion of it is so extreme, particularly young people,\u201d he explained. \u201cThe reaction to AI videos online and people my children\u2019s age immediately calling it \u2018AI slop\u2019 and coining that term and just putting it in a box, which I think is a very healthy skepticism, because technology is always going to give us great gifts, as you say, but it has to be viewed with skepticism.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe motives of the people giving it to us also have to be viewed with skepticism. That\u2019s when we\u2019ll get the best out of a new technology, rather than just blind faith that everything\u2019s going to be great. It\u2019s actually pretty encouraging to see young people in particular being so suspicious of it,\u201d added Nolan.<\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, Musk has continued his bitter crusade<\/a> on Nolan\u2019s summer blockbuster, declaring that X\u2019s AI tool Grok Imagine \u201cwill make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer\u201d by the end of the year. Musk and his ilk have recently made a stink<\/a> about the ethnicity of some of the adaptation\u2019s cast, which Nolan has also dismissed as \u201cirrelevant.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\tThe use of AI in Hollywood continues to be a hot-button topic in recent years. SAG-AFTRA has endorsed the Trump administration\u2019s AI policy framework<\/a>, which calls for Congress to enact legislation that includes parental controls, intellectual property rights protection, First Amendment protections, expanding AI workforce development, allowing data centers to generate their own power and removing legal barriers that limit AI innovation.<\/p>\n
