\n\tParadise City Sales has boarded worldwide sales on Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Gharaei\u2019s latest feature,\u00a0\u201cFalling House\u201d which is set to world premiere in the Horizons section at the Venice Film Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFalling House\u201d marks his follow up to \u201cBlockage,\u201d a 2017 drama that portrayed contemporary Iranian society and won best film at Busan before going on to play at Rotterdam and Munich. <\/p>\n

\n\tCAA Media Finance is handling U.S. rights, while Paradise City Sales represents international sales on \u201cFalling House.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film follows a modest family on the outskirts of Tehran who faces the imminent destruction of their home as part of a vast redevelopment project. While Rashid, the father and a prison guard, is being accused of corruption, he discovers that his eldest daughter, Ensi, is secretly planning to leave Iran to become a model. As the bulldozers draw ever closer, the tensions within the household begin to rise.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe most terrifying structures are the ones that no longer need a tyrant,\u201d said Gharaei. \u201cTheir logic has already taken root in the minds of many. They become truly powerful the moment they are no longer recognized as violence. A prison no longer needs walls. It only needs people willing to call it home.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWritten by Mohsen Gharaei and Amir Mohammad Abdi,\u00a0\u201cFalling House\u201d stars Laleh Marzban, Rima Raminfar, Farhad Aslani and Elena Khakbaz. The film is scored by critically acclaimed composer Max Richter (\u201cHamnet\u201d), cinematography by Farshad Mohammadi, editing by Evelyn Rack (\u201cSound of Falling\u201d) and Emad Khodabakhsh, and sound design by Oscar-nominated Ansgar Frerich (\u201cOf Fathers and Sons\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFalling House\u201d is produced by Milad Khosravi and Mohsen Gharaei for Seven Springs Pictures (\u201cDivine Comedy\u201d), Oscar-winning producer Odessa Rae for RaeFilm Studios (\u201cThe Voice of Hind Rajab\u201d), and Daya Fern\u00e1ndez, Amaury Nolasco and Alois Rubenbauer for 3SIX9 Studios. Basis Berlin Filmproduktion (\u201cOf Fathers and Sons\u201d) and Zentropa Germany (\u201cKing\u2019s Land\u201d) are co-producing, with Oscar-nominated producer Jon Kilik (\u201cBabel,\u201d \u201cThe Hunger Games\u201d) serving as executive producer.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u2018Falling House\u2019 carries a warning we have felt growing for years,\u201d said Khosravi, who is producing for Seven Springs Pictures. He added that the idea for the film \u201cwas conceived long ago, and the screenplay was completed before the present madness in our country could have been imagined.\u201d \u201cYet today the film feels painfully prophetic, reflecting the long-term suffering of ordinary people who have endured decades of oppression and now face the fear and uncertainty brought by the ongoing war,\u201d he continued. <\/p>\n

\n\tRae at RaeFilm Studios pointed \u201cFalling House\u201d is not a film about politics, but rather a \u201cfilm about people living under its weight.\u201d \u201cEvery system eventually arrives at someone\u2019s front door. Mohsen captures this with extraordinary restraint,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\n\tJeanne Loriotti, sales executive at Paradise City Sales, said \u201cMohsen Gharaei has crafted a compelling, plot-driven story that combines a true sense of urgency with remarkably rich and layered characters.\u201d She said the company was \u201cstruck by the film\u2019s mounting tension, its emotional depth, and its remarkable performances, particularly from the female cast.\u201d Mohsen Gharaei is represented by Seven Springs Pictures. <\/p>\n
