{"id":564403,"date":"2026-07-23T14:59:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T14:59:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/564403\/"},"modified":"2026-07-23T14:59:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T14:59:12","slug":"gartan-man-barry-is-rtes-new-southern-reporter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/564403\/","title":{"rendered":"Gartan man Barry is RT\u00c9&#8217;s new southern reporter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Donegal reporter Barry Gallagher has been assigned RT\u00c9&#8217;s new journalist covering news from Cork, Kerry and the wider Southern region.<\/p>\n<p>Working alongside RT\u00c9 News&#8217; Southern Editor Paschal Sheehy, Barry will be reporting for RT\u00c9 News&#8217; online, social, television and radio news programmes.<\/p>\n<p>Barry joined RT\u00c9 News in 2023, originally as a presenter of news2day for two years. <\/p>\n<p>He has gone on to work as a multi-media journalist reporting across television, radio and online news including RT\u00c9\u2019s Six One News, Nine O\u2019Clock News, and most recently with RT\u00c9&#8217;s Morning Ireland team. <\/p>\n<p>He has reported on Storm Chandra and the Enniscorthy Floods, the 2024 Olympic Games, Electric Picnic, the 2024 and 2025 All Ireland Hurling Finals, and Jessie Buckley\u2019s historic Oscar success. <\/p>\n<p>Originally from Gartan, he moved to Dublin for his undergraduate degree in journalism at DCU in 2019.  And after graduating in May 2022, Barry began working as a reporter with national media outlet The Irish Sun, cementing his love for all things news.
