{"id":564634,"date":"2026-07-23T18:09:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T18:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/564634\/"},"modified":"2026-07-23T18:09:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T18:09:08","slug":"he-deserved-that-motorist-stops-to-rebuke-speeding-driver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/564634\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;He deserved that&#8217;: Motorist stops to rebuke speeding driver\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kildare <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/maintopics\/an-garda-s%C3%ADoch%C3%A1na_topic-5076620.html\">garda\u00ed<\/a> detected a motorist travelling at 134 km\/h in an 80 km\/h zone during a recent speed check, prompting a fellow road user to commend the enforcement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle was stopped safely by garda\u00ed and, while officers were dealing with the driver, a passing motorist pulled over briefly and said: \u201cHe deserved that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Garda\u00ed used the incident to remind drivers that driving at excessive speeds is a deliberate choice that significantly increases the risk to all road users, including families, cyclists, pedestrians, and fellow motorists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cPublic roads are not a race track,\u201d said a garda spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;If you want to test your driving skills, book a session at the race track, not the roads shared with families, cyclists and other motorists.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">As a result of the offence, the driver was issued with a \u20ac160 Fixed Charge Notice and received three penalty points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Kildare garda\u00ed said: \u201cSlow down.
