Coronation Street fans have spotted a blunder in scenes airing on the ITV soap tonight, but there’s a good explanation as to why a character’s name is misspelled. <\/p>\n

Eagle-eyed soap fans have noticed a typo in the football jersey worn by Liam Connor, though the soap explained in an episode aired last year why the character’s last name is spelled incorrectly as “Conner”.

Last year, Liam’s birthday fell during a dramatic time for his mum Maria and the rest of the family. <\/p>\n

Unbeknownst to Maria, her husband Gary Windass was lying in a hospital bed after being attacked by Lou Michaelis. While Maria feared that Gary had walked out on her Liam, she tried to put a strong front for her son’s birthday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, uncle Kirk had his own way to cheer up his sister and nephew. For Liam’s birthday, Kirk resorted to his usual birthday gift, a green football jersey in a different size.<\/p>\n

“Again?! You got him one of them last year! And the year before!” Maria told his brother in the episode as Kirk justified himself saying this one would be the perfect fit.<\/p>\n

“Look at the back!” Kirk encouraged his nephew, who, upon seeing his last name spelled “Conner”, exchanged a knowing look with his mum.<\/p>\n

Despite the typo, it seems that the jersey has become a prized possession for Liam, who rocks it again in tonight’s episode. <\/p>\n

While Gary has since returned home, it hasn’t been smooth sailing for him and Maria as of late. After she suspected that Gary had rekindled his relationship with ex Sarah Platt, Maria was horrified to realise the truth had to do with Theo Silverton’s murder.<\/p>\n

Gary had helped Sarah in the aftermath of Theo’s murder. While there was no cheating involved, Maria isn’t too thrilled that Gary put their family life on the line to rush to support his ex covering up a crime. Will she expose Sarah?<\/p>\n

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX<\/a>.<\/p>\n
