\n\tSony Pictures has signed on as international distributor for \u201cRamayana<\/a>,\u201d the two-part Indian mythological epic directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra<\/a>\u2018s Prime Focus Studios, covering all territories outside India.<\/p>\n

\n\tIndian distribution will be handled by media personality Karan Johar\u2019s Dharma Productions. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe story follows the exiled prince Rama and his wife Sita, whose abduction by the demon king Ravana sets in motion an epic war between the forces of righteousness and evil.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film stars Ranbir Kapoor<\/a> as Rama, Yash<\/a> as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Designed for audiences across cultures, it will be released in multiple languages, including an English-language version.<\/p>\n

\n\tScore duties fall to Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. The production also features action choreography by Terry Notary and Guy Norris, and production design by Ramsey Avery and Ravi Bansal.<\/p>\n

\n\tVisual effects are being delivered by DNEG \u2013 the eight-time Academy Award-winning studio also led by Malhotra \u2013 whose credits include the \u201cDune\u201d trilogy, \u201cBlade Runner 2049,\u201d \u201cInterstellar,\u201d \u201cInception\u201d and \u201cThe Odyssey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPrime Focus Studios previously co-produced \u201cThe Garfield Movie\u201d with Alcon Entertainment for Sony Pictures, a title that has taken in more than $257 million worldwide.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is due to release in November, during the Diwali holiday frame.<\/p>\n
