Elliot Anderson is looking forward to taking on Manchester United (Martin Rickett\/PA)<\/p>\nElliot Anderson has declared Manchester City the \u201ckings of Manchester\u201d after completing his \u00a3116million move from Nottingham Forest.<\/p>\n
The England midfielder has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium with the option of a further 12 months.<\/p>\n
The deal was agreed earlier this month but finalised this week following the player\u2019s return from the World Cup.<\/p>\n

Anderson said he was \u201cover the moon\u201d to be signing for \u201cone of the biggest clubs in the world\u201d and has his sights firmly set on winning trophies.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t wait to play for this club,\u201d the 23-year-old said. \u201cIt\u2019s a club built to win trophies and compete at the very top of the game. That is exciting for any footballer.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think they\u2019re winners, they\u2019re relentless, and that\u2019s the sort of team I want to be a part of. Over the last 10, 12 years, they\u2019ve dominated, so that\u2019s why I wanted to join.\u201d<\/p>\n
The midfielder is already relishing the prospect of playing in the Manchester derby, with City due to face arch-rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on September 13th.<\/p>\n

Anderson, who was linked with both clubs this summer, said: \u201cIt\u2019s one of the biggest derbies in the world and for as long as I\u2019ve known Manchester, City have been the kings of Manchester.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019ll be a great fixture and I can\u2019t wait to be involved in something like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Anderson came through the youth ranks at Newcastle and made 55 first-team appearances for his boyhood club. Early in his career he also enjoyed a successful loan at Bristol Rovers, where he earned the nickname \u2018Geordie Maradona\u2019.<\/p>\n
He joined Forest in a \u00a335million deal two years ago and played 92 times for the Reds. He earned his first England call-up last season and quickly established himself as a key member of Thomas Tuchel\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

Anderson excelled in two years with Nottingham Forest (Mike Egerton\/PA)<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m only 23, so I\u2019ve got plenty of time to get to my best levels,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m definitely not there yet and there\u2019s more to come from me.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think I bring a bit of everything. I bring quality, I bring physicality, energy. I\u2019d like to think I\u2019d get the fans excited, get them off their feet and bring energy to the team.\u201d<\/p>\n
There is extra significance in the move for Anderson, as he grew up idolising former City star Kevin De Bruyne.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cI think Kevin De Bruyne is someone who I\u2019ve hugely looked up to over the past seven or eight years.<\/p>\n

Former City star Kevin De Bruyne was a big inspiration for Anderson (Adam Davy\/PA)<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to play like him. I\u2019ve watched him all the time and to be sat here in the team that he was doing it for is so special.\u201d<\/p>\n
Anderson is now enjoying a summer break and will link up with new manager Enzo Maresca\u2019s squad for pre-season training next month.<\/p>\n
Director of football Hugo Viana said: \u201cElliot is one of the outstanding young midfield talents in world football.
