\n\tThe Beach Boys<\/a> have hit pause on their summer 2026 tour<\/a> to allow singer Mike Love time to \u201crecharge.\u201d The announcement came in a post on Love\u2019s Instagram page<\/a>, in which the 85-year-old vocalist wrote that the break was intended to allow the veteran \u201cGod Only Knows\u201d band to catch their breath before they go back out on the road in the fall.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPlaying for you is the highlight of our summer every year \u2014 especially as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States while saluting the 60th Anniversary of Pet Sounds,\u201d Love, the sole remaining original member of the group said in a statement. \u201cWe\u2019ve been having a blast out there, and to keep the good vibrations going strong, we\u2019ll be taking a short break to recharge before getting back on the road in September.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe announcement of the time-out on six weeks of shows, representing nearly 30 gigs, came just as the group was slated to perform at Virginia\u2019s legendary Wolf Trap on Thursday night (July 23). Love noted that all tickets for the postponed performances \u2014 from July 23 through a planned Sept. 3 show in Pueblo, Colo. \u2014\u00a0will be honored following the band\u2019s return to the road in September; fans are encouraged to contact their local box office for more information.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThanks for your love \u2014 we can\u2019t wait to see you back out there for a September to Remember,\u201d Love added.<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing the retirement<\/a> of longtime vocalist\/keyboardist Bruce Johnston, 83, earlier this year after more than six decades on the road, Love is the sole original-era member still touring with the band; fellow co-founder singer\/rhythm guitarist Al Jardine stopped touring with the Love-led version of the Beach Boys in 2012.<\/p>\n

\n\tA Slate review<\/a> of the band\u2019s May 30 show at State Theatre in New Brunswick, N.J. described Love as looking \u201csallow and enfeebled,\u201d saying his legs were \u201cstiff\u201d and \u201carms flat by his side. When he opened his mouth to sing, his once resonant tenor was reduced to a whisper, all warbled, strange, and barely there.\u201d The Beach Boys canceled a series of shows after that due to an unspecified illness Love was suffering from, resuming the tour on June 14.<\/p>\n
