\n The new Penneys in Dooradoyle has doubled in size and officially opened its doors following a \u20ac7 million Investment.\n <\/p>\n

Penneys has officially unveiled its extended and fully refurbished store in Dooradoyle today.<\/p>\n

Customers can now enjoy a totally refreshed and modernised Penneys in-store experience, following a major redevelopment project at the Crescent Shopping Centre.<\/p>\n

This refurbishment is part of Penneys\u2019 ongoing commitment to investing in Irish retail, supporting regional towns and cities across Ireland and delivering a fantastic in-store experience for its customers. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Originally opened in 1980, Penneys has been a key part of Limerick\u2019s local economy for over 40 years.<\/p>\n

The newly refreshed Penneys store has been transformed and has almost doubled in size, expanding from 13,400 sq. ft. to 24,600 sq. ft., creating a brighter, more spacious shopping experience.<\/p>\n

The new store includes much larger womenswear, menswear and kidswear departments, in response to growing customer demand for the retailer\u2019s great value fashion and everyday family essentials.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The new Penneys Dooradoyle store employs 135 people, including approximately 30 new jobs created this summer to support the bigger store, providing a welcome boost to the local economy.<\/p>\n

The Dooradoyle team includes many long-serving colleagues – more than 11% have worked at the store for over 20 years, including retail colleagues Deirdre O\u2019Neill, Mary O\u2019Brien, and Elaine Aherne Lee who have been with the team at Penneys Dooradoyle for over 40 years. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Commenting on the relaunch, Fintan Costello, Head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland, said: \u201cWe\u2019re delighted to reopen our newly extended and refurbished Dooradoyle store officially and to welcome customers into a completely transformed shopping space.<\/p>\n

This significant investment reflects our continued commitment to Limerick and follows the refurbishment of our O\u2019Connell Street store last summer, meaning both of our Limerick stores have now benefited from major investment to deliver an even better shopping experience for our customers. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Eimear Dwan, Marketing Manager at the Crescent Shopping Centre, added: \u201cI am thrilled to see the expansion of Penneys here at Crescent Shopping Centre. There was huge excitement and anticipation building over the last while, and I can\u2019t wait to see our customers enjoy this new space\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The upgraded store features wider walkways and, for the first time, has music playing in store for shoppers to enjoy while browsing.<\/p>\n

Customers will also benefit from 22 fitting rooms, offering plenty of space to try on their favourite fashion finds, while 13 new self-checkout tills provide a quicker and more convenient way to pay.<\/p>\n

This refurbishment marks the latest step in Penneys\u2019 plan to invest \u20ac250\u202fmillion\u202fin new and existing stores over 10 years, including the development of a \u20ac75 million state-of-the-art distribution centre in Newbridge, Co.
