Last month, we got the <a href=\"https:\/\/stereogum.com\/2501951\/green-day-road-trip-comedy-nimrods-unveils-trailer\/news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">official trailer<\/a>, and then a few weeks later we got a new Green Day song, &#8220;I&#8217;m Never Gonna R.I.P.,&#8221; featured in the movie and more information about the soundtrack. Today, there was a surprise event promoting Nimrods at the San Diego Comic-Con where Iron Maiden joined Green Day on stage.<\/p>\n<p>The event hosted The Coverups, which is basically Green Day performing a bunch of rock &#8216;n&#8217; roll classics that are not their own. This past Monday they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YH2aRa1-Fys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">played<\/a> Nirvana&#8217;s &#8220;Drain You,&#8221; and dedicated it to the late L7 bassist <a href=\"https:\/\/stereogum.com\/2505697\/jennifer-finch-l7-bassist-dead-at-59\/news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Jennifer Finch<\/a>, who passed last weekend. During today&#8217;s performance, Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson joined them onstage to play &#8220;All the Young Dudes,&#8221; the David Bowie-penned hit that Mott the Hoople made famous.
