Ipswich Town have signed Celtic striker Daizen Maeda as they look to strengthen ahead of the new Premier League campaign.<\/p>\n
Maeda, who joins Ipswich in a \u00a310million move, spent four-and-a-half years at Celtic, making a total of 212 appearances for the Hoops and scoring 79 goals.<\/p>\n
Maeda scored 33 goals for the Hoops in the 2024-25 campaign and played a pivotal role in their double-winning season last time out with nine goals in the last seven matches. He also scored for Japan against Sweden in the World Cup.<\/p>\n
He joins Ipswich on a three-year deal.<\/p>\n
“I am very proud to sign for Ipswich Town,” he said.<\/p>\n
“I have always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and I am very happy I can realise that dream with this club. I have loved all of the conversations with the club and they have made me feel very welcome.<\/p>\n
“My aim will always be to battle hard, score goals and provide assists for my team \u2013 I will always run and give everything that I have.<\/p>\n
“I am excited to learn more about the club and meet the supporters.”<\/p>\n
Ipswich boss Gary O’Neil added: “We’re very pleased to have Daizen join the club. Playing in the Premier League is something I know he has been working towards throughout his career and we are proud he has made the decision to do that now at Ipswich Town.<\/p>\n
“He works extremely hard and has impressive physical attributes, while also proving over a number of years playing in Scotland that he has the ability to score goals and create for his team.<\/p>\n
