One similar to this was damaged with graffiti in Drogheda this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"aiir-c-news-article__abstract\">\n            Irish Rail have confirmed that the graffiti was reported to Garda\u00ed\n        <\/p>\n<p>Iarnr\u00f3d \u00c9ireann have confirmed that one of its new DART+ trains were damaged whilst in Drogheda for programmed testing during the week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a statement given to LMFM News the operator says the incident has been reported to Garda\u00ed<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the company said &#8221; One of the new DART+ carriages did suffer some graffiti damage whilst in Drogheda for programmed testing during the week. As is standard procedure, photographs were taken of the damage, and the incident was reported to Gardai. The unit was immediately cleaned before re-entering the testing schedule. There is CCTV on site and added physical security whenever one of the units is on site for testing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Iarnr\u00f3d \u00c9ireann, supported by the NTA,\u00a0have\u00a0to date invested\u00a0\u20ac670 million and\u00a0ordered\u00a0285\u00a0new\u00a0carriages\u00a0under the DART+ Fleet\u00a0framework agreement with manufacturer Alstom,\u00a0which provides for a maximum of\u00a0750 DART vehicles\u00a0over\u00a0a 10-year\u00a0period.\u00a0The units, currently\u00a0undergoing a\u00a0rigorous testing, commissioning and safety approvals\u00a0programme,\u00a0will be a mix of Battery\u00a0Electric (BEMU) and fully electric (EMU) carriages and will begin entering service, on the Northern line to Drogheda, in 2027. Investing in\u00a0both electric and battery\/electric powered trains\u00a0means an accelerated delivery of capacity and service frequency uplift for customers, making the most of\u00a0existing infrastructure while electrification is being progressed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A key feature is the low-level floors and wide doorways with sliding steps which enable easy access and good passenger flow.
