It\u2019s been nearly 30 years since we last visited the Owens sisters, their aunts, and the next generation of witches in Practical Magic, but the coven is back this September for a highly anticipated sequel, Practical Magic 2\u2014and Emmy-nominated stars Joey King<\/a> and Maisie Williams<\/a> are along for the (broom) ride. They\u2019re set to play Sally Owens\u2019s two daughters, Antonia and Kylie, who are now all grown up and learning about their supernatural ancestry, just as their mother Sally (Sandra Bullock) and aunt Gillian (Nicole Kidman) did in the 1998 movie.<\/p>\n

King and Williams knew what they were doing, signing up for an iconic and much-beloved franchise, but as they told Vogue Head of Editorial Content Chloe Malle onstage at the 2026 Teen Vogue Fest,<\/a> it was still intimidating to be joining such a stacked cast.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a little bit terrifying, only because you want to be on your A-game and are working with legends,\u201d Williams said. \u201cYou never stop learning and growing from people you work with, so getting to learn and grow from Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman was fun and a little overwhelming.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two actors first saw the original movie years after it premiered; King noted that she wasn\u2019t even born when it came out in 1998. \u201cI was nine or ten and I was really scared,\u201d she said of her initial viewing. In time, however, the film became a rewatchable favorite. As for Williams, she and her mom discovered the movie together; these days, it conjures up lots of happy memories of her childhood.<\/p>\n

Both actors grew up onscreen, with Williams on Game of Thrones and King in TV commercials and Malcolm in the Middle, as well as Beezus and Ramona. Bullock told her onscreen daughters to \u201cgo, run\u201d as they evolved into leading ladies and producers, and assured them she was there if they wanted advice. But Williams said simply watching the two at work was \u201cvery exciting.\u201d The generations also learned some pop culture lessons from each other, with King and Williams teaching Kidman and Bullock about \u201cwig\u201d and Bullock teaching them \u201c6,7.\u201d (And yes, there is a Practical Magic 2 group chat where Bullock and Kidman hype up their young co-stars.)<\/p>\n

Given that Williams and King have been in the industry for a long time, they\u2019ve also experienced the sometimes \u201cclunky\u201d transition that goes with growing up in the public eye.
