The former FAI football coach Eamonn Collins, who was arrested as part of an investigation into allegations of historical sexual abuse relating to the Ladies Football Association of Ireland three decades ago, has been released from detention.<\/p>\n
He was arrested in Dublin yesterday morning by officers from the Garda National Protective Services Bureau.<\/p>\n
The investigation commenced following a joint investigation by RT\u00c9 and the Sunday Independent.<\/p>\n
A number of women spoke out on the RT\u00c9 Investigates programme “Girls in Green” which was broadcast two years ago and made allegations of inappropriate behaviour.<\/p>\n
The allegations were also detailed in the Sunday Independent newspaper.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed said this morning that a man was released from detention late yesterday and that a file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.<\/p>\n
