{"id":569575,"date":"2026-07-26T22:55:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-26T22:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/569575\/"},"modified":"2026-07-26T22:55:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-26T22:55:08","slug":"e-scooter-driver-teenager-and-passenger-killed-in-three-separate-incidents-on-roads-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/569575\/","title":{"rendered":"E-scooter driver, teenager and passenger killed in three separate incidents on roads \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The driver of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/escooters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/escooters\/\">e-scooter<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/meath\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/meath\">Co Meath<\/a>, a teenager in Tipperary and a passenger in Clare were among three fatalities on the roads on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The crash involving an e-scooter and a car occurred on the Kentstown Road in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/navan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/navan\/\">Navan<\/a> at about 1.45am on Sunday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\">Garda\u00ed<\/a> said the male e-scooter driver, who has yet to be identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to the mortuary at Our Lady\u2019s Hospital, Navan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The driver of the car, a man in his 60s, and a male passenger aged in his 20s were uninjured.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The road remained closed on Sunday morning for examination by Garda technical staff and local diversions were put in place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Road users who were travelling in this area between 1am and 1.45am have been asked to make any digital recordings available to them. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Elsewhere, a male teenager was killed in a single-vehicle crash in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/tipperary\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/tipperary\">Co Tipperary<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">That incident occurred on the L4101 at Lanespark, Ballynonty, Thurles, at about 3.45am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Waterford University Hospital, where a postmortem will take place.
